In Los Angeles there are locations known as “movie ranches”. They are usually large areas of open land with various types of foliage and buildings used to cheat different locations around the world.
Sometimes old sets and structures get abandoned and over time they look like part of a liminal dream looking both surreal and grounded all the same time. This is what the Petrol station looked like to me when I encountered it on a shoot a couple of years ago.
